The 2019 Soybean Production Contest Results are In!
Once again, we have record-breaking yields for our soybeans. There was a total of 5 entries that exceeded 100 bushels per acre; two of which were not irrigated.
A new high yield was documented at 108.23 bushels per acre for Phillip Meredith in Henderson County for his irrigated entry. Schwenke Brother’s Farms in Boone won second place for the irrigated, full-season division with 97.14 bushels per acre.
For the non-irrigated full-season division, both first and second place exceeded 100 bushels per acre from Daviess County. Fischer Cross Creek Farm produced 101.78 bushels per acre and Flat Lick Farms produced 101.44 bushels per acre.
Armistead Farms in Logan county won first place for the double-crop irrigated division with 74.00 bushels per acre. For the non-irrigated double-crop division, Folz Farm in Christian county won first place with 72.02 bushels per acre and Goetz Brothers Farms in Daviess county won second place with 60.90 bushels per acre.
For the district yield winners, Andrew Bullock (Muhlenberg county) won District 1 with 94.76 bushels per acre, Running T Farms (Union county) won District 2 with 99.84 bushels per acres, Mike Saxton (Warren county) won District 3 with 85.51 bushels per acre, and Mark Thomas (Hardin county) won District 4 with 91.41 bushels per acre.
For the Quality contest, Schwenke Brother’s Farm (Boone county) won first place for oil content with their entry of 23.80%. David Denney (Wayne county) won second place for oil content with 23.26%. Armistead Farms in Logan county won first place for protein content (41.34%) and Folz Farm in Christian county won second place for protein (40.32%).
