Helping producers use the resources they have to get the healthiest soils and crops possible, even in the midst of high input costs.

The University of KY KATS will hold an interactive class on Feb 22, 2022 focused on dealing with high fertilizer costs.
Discussion will include:
-Interpreting soil test results, including the methodology behind soil sample analysis, the most important results from a soil test, the results that have the most value, results with the least value and what producers can do if they think something is wrong with the soil analysis.
-How to evaluate plant growth-enhancement products for effectiveness and economics.
-What to look for in advertisements, how these products work and other resources to help producers evaluate these products.
-How producers can use precision agriculture to better manage their inputs. This includes information on cutting-edge research being conducted at UK on variable rate nitrogen and phosphorus.
-Problems with traditional grid sampling and provide practical tips for improved nutrient management.
The class will beging at 9 am (sign in starting at 8:30 ) and will conclude around noon, with a provided lunch following. It will be held at the Caldwell County Exension Office in Princeton, KY.
